Impromptu Family Reunion, My Aunt is Dying, Louisiana Didn’t go the Way of Atlantis While I was There

Yo, my guys, gals & nonbinary pals.

Today, Earthdate August 13, 2016, I went to Louisiana to visit my great aunt who recently decided to go off the chemo to increase her quality of life in this last stretch.

Surprisingly, a good time was had by all and it wasn’t tear-jerking. She has months yet. I imagine months from now we’ll go back to see her for the last time before she passes. She’s only in her late fifties so the breast & brain cancer is taking her well before her time.

However, I was only told of the impending trip the day before and had to scramble a bit re: my sleep schedule to be awake. Rode out with my mom and her youngest kids in the interests of not taking many cars on thee hour drives.

The process by which I managed to be awake for the entire day involved staying up the entire night before, so on the way back I conked out around Shreveport. I haven’t tapped out like that in a car ride since I was a little kid; it’s okay, though, my grandmother and the actual kids were right there with me.

tl;dr See Title, and a good time was had by all. Also there was BBQ.
